Peace Festival 2005" welcomes you!
Gyeonggi Province features various tourist
attractions including Imjingak, Dorasan Station
and the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Imjingak
is located 7 km from the Military Demarcation
Line, and it is the northernmost point where
non-official civilians are allowed to go.
Several monuments, a Unification Park and
North Korea Museum, surround it. Dorasan Station
is the northernmost station on the only railroad
that crosses into North Korea, the Gyeongui
Line. The DMZ has drawn increased attention
as one of the world's last pieces of unique
and untouched wilderness.
By highlight the significance of these unique
addresses, Gyeonggi Province aims to contribute
to inter-Korean reconciliation, unification,
and world peace. As the year 2005 marks "Visit
Gyeonggi Korea Year," and the 60th anniversary
of Korea's Liberation, Peace Festival 2005
will be a great opportunity to spread new
messages of "Reconciliation and Co-prosperity,"
and "Peace and Unification" through
Korea and beyond.
Peace Festival 2005 will feature various performance
programs, including the Opening Ceremony at
the Candlelight Pavilion, a Performance for
the 60th Anniversary of Liberation, Outdoor
Concert, and Fringe Festival. There are theme
projects, which reflect the four themes of
Care, Wish, Respect, and Meet, as well as
diverse academic and educational programs,
exhibitions, and special events. Through these
programs, participants can learn about the
many dimensions of peace, and have the chance
to put it into practice. |
